Tax Administration

bulletThe County Clerk is the liaison between the County Assessor, who determines that value of your real and personal property, and the Collector/Treasurer who mails out the tax billings.
bulletIt is the County Clerk's responsibility to administrate the tax rates levied by the 60 political subdivision (schools, districts, cities, townships, special road districts, fire districts, etc).
bulletThroughout the taxing process the County Clerk works with the State Auditors Office, the State Tax Commission, the department of Elementary and Secondary Education, Department of Revenue and the local political sub-divisions.
bulletThe Clerk also serves as secretary to the annual Henry County Board of Equalization (held each July), to which taxpayers can appeal their property assessments, and as clerk to the Back Tax held each August.
