    The County Clerk's office works closely with the Henry County Industrial Development Authority and the Henry County Economic Development Council, Inc. to promote Henry County as a viable place to live and do business.

Henry County Demographics

    Henry County is strategically located approximately half way between Kansas City and Springfield, in the west central region of Missouri.  Henry County is within a one day traveling distance to all major mid-west distribution cities.  Businesses in Henry County enjoy immediate access to state highways 13, 7, and 52, and conveniently located near state highways 71, 65 and I-70.  Active rails are still in operation in most of the county and a soon to be expanded municipally owned airport is available for small aircraft.

    Henry County enjoys a diverse economy with an ever expanding industrial, retail agricultural, and tourism base.  It boasts some of the finest medical and healthcare facilities in the area.  Henry County is proud of its  educational system with twelve public school systems and three private schools providing its young people quality education in preparation for their future.

    Henry County is home to not only nationally recognized industry i.e. Schreiber Foods and Tracker Boats, but also locally owned industries and businesses, making Henry County the corporate headquarters for more than one company. Most of Henry County lies within an Enterprise Zone, affording those businesses wanting to locate here with tax credits.

    Henry County's location makes it a retail hub for surrounding communities.  The county seat, Clinton has a vibrant retail business centered around its Historic Downtown Square District, which also happens to be the largest town square in the State of Missouri and reportedly the third largest in the world.  The community of Windsor also has a vibrant downtown retail base and also is home to a thriving Amish community. specializing in homegrown produce and bulk items.  The smaller communities within Henry County provide specialty shops and excellent dining opportunities.

    The family farm is still a vibrant part of the economy of Henry County.  Local farmers contribute cattle, hogs, chickens, sheep, goats, corn, soy beans, wheat, milo, fescue seed and hay to the nation.

    Henry County is located at the headwaters of Truman Lake and area residents enjoy miles of shoreline affording some of the best hunting and fishing in the county.  It is virtually a sportsman's paradise.  There are abundant fishing waters containing black bass, striped bass, many varieties of catfish, walleye pike, crappie, and other pan, game and rough fish.  The hunting opportunities include deer, coyote, squirrel, rabbit, turkey, wood cock, quail, dove, and the Truman Reservoir has an abundance of migratory water fowl.  The warm water of the Kansas City Power and Light, Montrose electrical generating plant cooling pond serves as a wintering area for ducks and geese and provides open water for fishing, even in the most severe winters.

    Henry County is a great place to live, work, and play.  Its residents enjoy a sense of community not often experience in today's busy world.  The people of Henry County are friendly, proud and involved.  Henry County boasts of the largest volunteer bases in the country.  Many of the towns of Henry County are award winning Missouri Community Betterment Communities and the City of Clinton is a past All-America City awardees and a Main Street Community.  The Truman Lake Community Foundation gives everyone the opportunity to re-invest in the area through the funding of local projects and programs.
